## The short verdict

It depends heavily on the country, and for now we only cover Cape Town. It is a city where travelling alone is a pleasure, with nature, food and an open LGBTQ+ scene, but safety needs clear rules about how and when you move around. More African destinations will come with the next waves of guides.

- Best season: –

We chose to start with one city in Africa rather than cover a whole continent badly. Cape Town is the African destination solo travellers search for most, and it will host WorldPride in 2028.

The next waves of guides will add more countries. Every new page follows the same rules: sourced facts, official travel advice and a review by a member of the team.
